Language Dynamics

Contact: Ayla Karakaş

The topic of language dynamics has become increasingly popular in our department, with enough interest to warrant a forum for reading and discussing papers pertaining to the dynamics of language and dynamic field theory (DFT). What exactly this will look like in practice is a precedent to be set by early members of the group.

For Fall 2024, our main objective is to prepare for a symposium we will be holding at the 2025 LSA conference, titled “Dynamic Field Theory for unifying discrete and continuous aspects of linguistic representations”. We will mostly be planning its content and giving practice talks throughout the semester, but the meetings are open to everyone who is interested in this topic and would like to be involved (i.e., not only organizers).
