Claire Bowern gives opening keynote at AMC Conference
Claire Bowern recently gave a plenary on language contact and change in phonology (with a focus on Australian Indigenous sound systems) at the Angus McDougal Centre for Historical Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. The 4th AMC Symposium runs from December 2nd to 4th. Claire’s talk focused on recent work about the prospects for understanding how language change works and what the role of language contact might be in accelerating or impeding language change.
