Yale linguists present at European Australianists workshop
Current professor Claire Bowern and former department members Sarah Babinski and Josh Phillips all gave talks at a recent workshop on Australian linguistics in Fontainebleau, at the Universite Paris-Cite’s ecological field station. All presented current work: Sarah presented findings related to stress alignment that bears on the status of predictable edge-marked stress systems as lexical or demarcative, while Josh and Claire presented on typological semantic work on negation, part of the their NSF-funded project on the history of negation (and related concepts) in Australian languages.
