Yale linguists at CogSci2024, “Dynamics of Cognition”
Seven current members of the linguistics department attended the CogSci2024, the 46th Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society, held in Rotterdam, Netherlands from July 24th-July 27th. As a recipient of the Glushko Dissertation Award, Tom McCoy presented a talk based on his dissertation “Implicit compositional structure in the vector representations of artificial neural networks”; Teresa Borneo and Maria Piñango presented a poster, “Linear Word Order Modulates the Cost of Metonymy Comprehension: Dynamics of Conceptual Composition”; and, Michael Stern, Maria Piñango, and Jason Shaw presented a talk, “Neural dynamic architecture of language linking the sensory-motor to the conceptual domain via lexical items” in the symposium “How does the sensory-motor brain integrate and give rise to cognition and learning?”.
